Transportation from the Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre will be made available for those who need it.

The A.G.M. will be conducted observing Robert’s Rules of Order and the provisions of the RMSS bylaws.  To vote, you will need to be a member in good standing.  Information regarding nominations will be posted at both our centres later this summer.

Nov 14 – Wellness – Healthy Brain – MR

Wellness Speaker Series

Healthy Brain – Healthy aging is important for everyone, and it is essential not to forget the health of your brain as well!  This workshop encourages participants to actively engage in protecting and maintaining their brain.  Learn strategies and set goals for improving the health of your mind, body and spirit.

Sep 24 – Workshop – Accessing Services Dementia – MR

This session is for family caregivers who are currently supporting a person with dementia who is living at home.  it will review strategies for accessing support from a variety of sources in your community – from getting help from family and friends, to navigating the formal health care system.  The session will also consider some of the challenges that can arise when making the decision to access services and support, and offers strategies for working with the service providers and acting as an advocate.

Oct 7 – Bus Trip – Hidden Treasures with Joy Brown

Celebrate going on a treasure hunt to discover some wonderful places.  We will visit Crescent Beach and Blackie Spit with a stop at Westham Island to visit a unique farm.  Enjoy an easy walk at Finn Slough, the last remaining float house community on the Fraser River.  A visit to a winery for tasting and a full lunch and look around in Ladner.

Oct 8 – Food – Recipe Showdown – MR

Golden Spatula Award

Starting in September, we ask you to submit your best recipes for Entrees and Desserts.

Make sure that you note:

  • your name
  • the recipe title
  • ingredients list
  • instructions / cooking

Once recipes are collected, a panel of judges will choose the top 5 recipes that our kitchen staff will prepare.  There will be a voting process throughout the week, during lunch (at Maple Ridge) to find out who the winners of the Golden Spatula Awards are.

It’s an old fashioned country fair featuring…local handmade arts & crafts, homemade pie contest, everything zucchini cooking contest, concession stand.

Activities for all ages including…cake walk, line dancing, entertainment.
